Former Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Ali Olanusi said his impeachment by the state House of Assembly is a huge joke.
Ali was impeached by 24 out of 26 lawmakers in Ondo state on Monday, April 27, 2015 after accusing him of gross misconduct.
Ali’s lawyer, Oluwole Kayode described the entire process as illegal due to a pending court order. Oluwole’s statement reads:
“Another action in respect of the same office and the impeachment process is pending in court and will come up on May 7, 2015. I think public office holders and people who are put in positions to defend the Nigerian constitution must be law abiding,”
“In the light of this disobedience to a court order and the impunity displayed in the course of the impeachment proceedings, the deputy governor is on solid ground. The action is illegal and a huge joke,”
People believed Olanusi was impeached due to his defection from PDP to APC in March.
